Signs That You Are In Urgent Need Of Repairs To Your Heating System

Posted on: 23 July 2019

As a homeowner, it is very important for you to make sure that you are keeping a close eye on your heating system. This way, you will be able to spot when there are signs that indicate that you are in need of heating repair in your home. The sooner you are able to spot signs of trouble with your heating system, the sooner you will be able to get an HVAC contractor in your home to tend to it. Here are a few of the signs that you will want to watch out for:

The Pilot Light Isn't The Right Color

If you have a furnace with a pilot light, you need to occasionally check out its color. The color of the pilot light should be a nice blue. If it is orange or yellow, you will want to turn off the furnace and call for heating repair services. This is because there is a problem with your furnace, even if it is still producing heat. The wrong color for the pilot light can indicate that there is a carbon monoxide leak, which can be fatal to those in the home.

The Furnace Is Cycling Too Quickly

It is normal to occasionally hear your furnace cycle on and off as it powers on to heat up the house some more. However, if you start to hear the furnace cycling on and off too rapidly, this is a problem that you will want to have addressed by an HVAC technician. It could be something as simple as a bad thermostat that is sending faulty information to the furnace. Then again, it could be something much more serious inside of the furnace itself. Either way, you want this problem resolved quickly. You do not want the furnace to go through a lot of stress because of the constant cycling on and off. That is too much wear and tear on the furnace, so you want a contractor to address this issue quickly.

When you notice any of the previously mentioned signs of heating trouble, or anything else that causes you to worry about the condition of your HVAC system, you will want to contact a contractor right away. If you feel that the situation is dangerous, you will want to evacuate the home and call for emergency repairs. Do not return and turn on the heating system until it has been cleared for use by the HVAC contractor. Contact a service, like IMS Heating & Air Inc , for more help.
